- Q: I just enrolled! What do I do?
A: Start by reading the course
syllabus and reviewing the course
webpage. These, along with the announcements on Portal
and your UofT email, are required reading for all students in
CSC108. Once you have access to PCRS, work on catching up on
the material you missed.
- Q: How can I get access to PCRS?
A: You will be automatically added to PCRS within one
business day of enrolling in the course. If you enrolled on
Friday, or on the weekend, email firstname.lastname@example.org
with (1) your UTORid and (2) the section you are enrolled
- Q: How can I catch up?
A: You should complete all of the PCRS
exercises you have missed. You can find all the materials
from the on-campus sections posted on the Lectures page.
- Q: What happens if I missed Assignment 1?
A: If you enrolled after the Assignment 1 deadline, your
assignment weight will be split between Assignment 2 and
Assignment 3. If you do not have much prior programming
experience, we encourage you to still complete Assignment 1,
as the skills needed to complete the assignment are required
for the rest of the course.
- Q: I didn't get in to the section I wanted to. Can I
attend a different section from the one I am registered
A: You can attend any lecture section, however note that
students who are enrolled in a particular section have
priority to that space, so if the room is full, students who
are not enrolled in that section cannot attend.
- Q: I missed some exercise due dates - will I lose
A: You should complete any exercises you have missed as soon
as possible, as each week's material depends on your
understanding of the previous content. However you will not
be penalized for deadlines you missed because you were not
enrolled in the course. Deadlines missed because you weren't
enrolled in the course will be waived when computing your

- Q: I need this course for my program. Can you enrol
me in CSC108?
A: Instructors cannot enrol students in courses. If you need
CSC108 and were not able to enrol, you should speak to your
college registrar for advice on how to proceed.
- Q: I want to drop down to CSC108 from CSC148. Can you
add me to the course?
A: Instructors cannot enrol students in courses. You should
speak with your college registrar if you want to drop down.
Note that you are responsible for catching up with CSC108 if
you do drop down.
- Q: I want to take CSC148. Do I need to take CSC108
A: CSC108 is not a prerequisite course for CSC148,
however, CSC148 assumes students have the
background knowledge covered in CSC108.
- Q: I want to audit CSC108. Can you give me access to
A: We cannot give PCRS access to students who are not
enrolled in the course. However, you can find the videos
here. Also note that students who are enrolled in the
course have priority for the space in the classroom.
